Arthur turned five right on schedule. We had quite the ramp up to his birthday and birthday party, including a two week nightly countdown. He was so SO excited. And it all went very well indeed.
First thing in the morning, we all came downstairs so Arthur could open his presents. Nana and Grandpa were set up on facetime on the iPad so they could be here as well, and off Arthur went. He absolutely loved his toys.
After a mostly low key day relaxing at home, we had some cake after supper. This went over well with the small fry, even though it was bedtime immediately after icing time. That was poorly planned out on my part, never again. On the plus side, the next day was his party so both boys went to bed relatively easily. Chuck E Cheese was the location of the main event of the weekend.
The cake (courtesy of Zehrs) was awesome. Made up of 24 cupcakes, it was perfect for dishing out to a bunch of kids. No worries about who gets the big piece or more icing, just "here's your cupcake."
As the birthday boy, Arthur got a stack of tickets, extra tokens, a crown with more extra tokens, and a birthday medallion and balloon.
Arthur also got to go in this ticket blaster thing where the idea is to catch as many tickets as possible. He didn't catch any, not even one. Luckily, our party hostess was awesome and gave him 300 tickets as compensation.
Felix took a taste of my pepsi, it did not go over well.
All in all, we wound up with 1000 tickets which was enough for a pile of dollar store garbage. Arthur was predictably excited about it all!

These are all my pictures, taken with my phone. Luckily Mom was there with her fancy camera and took these photos:
