The magic of Disney didn't save us from the cold weather on our first day there. It was about 4C and we did not pack for that type of weather. The boys were bundled in pants, sweaters, coats, and blankets, but thanks to a mistake on my part Travis wound up at the park with no coat to go over his t-shirt. After seeing the price tag on Disney hoodies and sweatshirts I tried to convince him to buy a Disney patterned snuggie but he declined and toughed it out like a true Northern Ontarian. Our first day at Disney was really just a half day, we showed up at Magic Kingdom at 3pm and stayed for the fireworks after dark.
The first ride we lined up for was Winnie the Pooh, and 40 minutes into the wait they announced that the ride was broken. A typical start to an amusement park visit. On the plus side, we were able to see all three parades on our half day which let us go ride crazy on our second day in Magic Kingdom at the end of our visit. Felix slept through the fireworks on the first day, but his highlight of the day was during one of the parades when Donald the Duck waved at him and blew him a kiss.
All four of us on It's a Small World. Felix's favourite ride!
Our second day at Disney we chose to visit Animal Kingdom park. We were unsure about this park, we initially thought about skipping it, but I am so glad we decided to go! I brought Arthur on his very first big boy roller coaster there, Expedition Everest. It was amazing. And Arthur was literally jumping and bouncing with excitement about it afterward. We turned around right after going on it and got a fast-pass to go on it again.
We spent a lot of time going to shows in Animal Kingdom. The Lion King show, the Flights of Paradise show, not too many rides. The food was fantastic though. We were lucky enough to snag a free meal plan deal, and were expecting garbage food like burgers and fries, but we were able to eat really nice food. There were only a couple times over the 5 days we were there that we were even slightly disappointed in the food.
Made completely out of Lego
After Animal Kingdom, we headed over to Downtown Disney to do some shopping. We went into some Disney stores, but the highlight of the night was definitely the Lego store. Arthur and Felix were very excited to look at all of the Lego Star Wars stuff. And at the end of the night they each spent half of their Disney spending money on Lego Star Wars mini-figures.
