Totspot as Usual

This morning we met Celia and Erika at The Little Totspot , possibly our favorite place in town.  We are there at least once a week.  Arthur had a blast, standard practice for a day at totspot. Felix sat in a highchair for the first time and looked like he did it every day.  Celia and Erika got some baby cuddles in with Felix. Erika was particularly fond of Felix's fuzzy hair as well as his eyeballs so there was some gentle redirection of poking fingers.  Nothing like exploring the new baby! Luckily Felix is pretty sturdy and has endured worse than a little eye poking at big brother Arthur's hands. To top it all off was the fire alarm going off for no apparent reason. Celia had the good sense to leave before that happened. Of course by the time the rest of us made it to the door to evacuate, the alarm stopped.  Almost at the exact second that we reached the door. Ah well, I would much rather that than having the totspot burn down. I don't know what I'd do with the boys during the week without it as an option!

When we got home we had some quieter playtime. Arthur was full of hugs and kisses for Mommy and Felix, and even poor Lando though he wasn't too interested in them.  Felix just thinks that Arthur is the greatest thing, he'll watch Arthur play for about 20 minutes straight, which is like hours in baby attention span time. Of course it all ended in tears as it often does, when a stray tower was mysteriously knocked over onto Felix. Felix cried (though he was fine, not a scratch) and then Arthur cried because he felt bad. But it was all made better by even more hugs and kisses, this time from Mommy.

After supper both boys seemed to have way too much energy, so Arthur ran laps while I hauled the jumperoo up from the basement for Felix.  This was really his first time in it except for photo ops, but I was encouraged by the highchair success (and total nonchalance on Felix's part, see photo above) so I decided it was worth the effort.  And I was right! It took a little propping with a blanket around his belly and two folded towels underneath his feet so that he could reach, but it was definitely a success. He was amazed by the new toys right at his level. All it took was a turn of the head and he was confronted with something new and fascinating. He did wonderfully! And then he saw the frog. Apparently the frog is the long lost soul mate he's been searching for as he spent at least 5 minutes straight just staring deep into its googly eyes. They must have had a falling out at the end though, one minute he was staring contentedly at his frog and the next he was crying to get the heck out of there.

Tomorrow is Felix's 3 month birthday. It is also his appointment at McMaster's Children's Hospital in Hamilton with the pediatric urologist. Wish us luck!
