Halloween Party

Today was the halloween party at The Little Totspot. It was a blast! But before that Travis took Arthur first thing in the morning so I could "sleep in" with Felix until 8:30. They went to the farmers market at St. Jacobs to stock up on meat. Ever since we tried the steaks from there when Travis' parents were here visiting, the farmers market has been our source of all kinds of meat. Its unbelievably good, and the prices are always lower than the grocery store. While there Travis took Arthur to have an apple fritter from the Apple Fritter company, they both love them and it sounds like its starting to become a father and son tradition when visiting the farmers market. They also stopped and picked up a new slow cooker. Thank goodness! Our slow cooker broke in the move from the apartment in Kitchener to our townhouse here and we haven't picked up a new one until now. I really miss it! We make a lot of meals in there, including all our soups. I can't wait for a nice slow cooker ham, some pulled pork, and homemade chicken soup!

So after lunch we got the boys half dressed in their costumes, only half dressed because the top halves were too poofy for the car seats, and headed down to the Totspot. Sasha and her team had out done themselves. There was a face painter, a photographer, a few games, and a playdough and colouring station. Arthur was shy at first as usual, but once he hit the playdough area it took some major convincing to get him to do anything else! He didn't even want any of the yummy snacks that were upstairs. We did get to play some of the games later, including a home made plinko game that you played with little plastic eyeballs. That one was Arthur's favorite after the playdough I think. Lindsay and her family were there, and Celia and her little girl as well. It's so fun to have all the kids together. Especially now that Erika is big enough to hold her own with Arthur and Sienna! A good time was had by all. At the end of the party we decided to try and get Arthur to have his face painted, but he just got this really sad look on his face and said "I don't want to have my face painted" as if he was about to cry, so of course we didn't force him. Then we went downstairs for photos. Arthur wasn't really cooperating. He didn't want to smile at all until I said, if you smile we'll give you a treat! And boom, automatic huge smile. It was hilarious how lightning fast he smiled once he heard that. Felix wasn't really cooperating either, but he's more difficult to bribe. He would smile, but it was always with closed eyes or his hand (paw) covering his mouth. But we finally got the shots (they're going to be mailed to us later) and then it was time to go. It was definitely an early bedtime day today, Arthur went to bed at 6:30 which seems ridiculously early. Hopefully he's not up before 7am!

And at the end of the day when we asked Arthur what his favorite part of the day was, his answer was "apple fritters"

I had my camera set to smile detect, where it automatically takes a picture when it detects a smile. So what set it off? The jack'o'lanterns on the floor of course! lol

Arthur got so hot playing in his costume we finally had to take the bottom part and the hood off. His cheeks were so red!
